CASA Dinner

CASA Dinner
The Sands Foundation has hosted the annual Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Dinner for several years. CASA is believes that all children have the right to safe, healthy, stable homes, free from abuse and neglect. CASA volunteers are trained to advocate for abused and neglected children in the Clark County Family Court. The CASA volunteer, serving as a court appointed advocate for the child, will prevent the child from getting lost in the system by being sensitive to the child’s needs and presenting these needs to the Court. Through these advocacy efforts, the CASA volunteer is working with the court to ensure that every child has a chance for a brighter future. This dinner honors there service to the children of Clark County.

March of Dimes

March of Dimes Signature Chef Event
In 2008, the Foundation hosted the March of Dimes Signature Chef event that had a tasting from several of the city’s top chefs. This is the March of Dimes biggest fundraiser of the year. The Foundation is proud to partner with this worthy organization in an effort to help them raise money to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.

Tribute to the Troops

Tribute to the Troops
Tribute to the Troops is a signature event hosted by the Sands Foundation that salutes the wounded warriors that have fought to defend our freedom in Iraq and Afghanistan. Troops from several of the military hospitals in the United States are treated to a four day “thank you” for their service to our country. The troops were entertained by various shows and entertainers as well as got to see several aspects of the Strip and the Southern Nevada area. Proceeds from a special performance of the Blue Man Group in the troops honor were donated to ThanksUSA. ThanksUSA is an organization whose mission is to provide college, technical and vocational school need-based scholarships for the children and spouses of active-duty US military personnel.

Blue Man Group

Blue Man Group 2008
The Venetian Foundation in partnership with the Blue Man Group and the School Community Partnership Program with the Clark County School District to put together a pilot educational curriculum to teach students math, science, and social networking. These principles were demonstrated in the live and exciting performance of the Blue Man Group. A written program was developed so that teachers could refer to the principles in the performance to help stimulate student learning and appreciation for math, science, and music. Students were bused from their schools to a special matinee performance of the show. Venetian team members were very instrumental in ensuring the overall enjoyment and safe return of these fifth grade students. Students, teachers, staff, principles, and performers all had a high energy good time.

Kids To Kids

Spread the Word Nevada - Kids to Kids Storybook Gala
The Sands Foundation is proud to partner with Spread the Word Nevada – Kids to Kids. In its ninth year, Kids to Kids is dedicated to advancing early childhood literacy by placing books into the hands and homes of children within Southern Nevada's at-risk, low income communities. Through their annual dinner, Kids to Kids has been able to raise money to support over 20 schools and distribute over $1 million

Where I Live

Where I Live
“Where I Live“ is a partnership of the Sands Foundation with the Nevada Housing Division that hosts an annual art contest for elementary school aged children in the Clark County School District. Over 3,600 from 45 elementary schools participated in the competition with the award ceremony and reception taking place at the Venetian Resort Hotel Casino. This year’s display included 128 winning pieces.

AIDS for AIDS Walk

Aids for Aids Walk
Venetian and Palazzo Team members participated in the Annual Aid for AIDS Walk in Las Vegas. The money raised by team members and other through this annual event provides support and advocacy for adults and children living with and affected by HIV/AIDS in southern Nevada. AFAN works to reduce HIV infection through prevention education to eliminate fear, prejudice and the stigma associated with the disease.

Urban Chamber Scholarship

Urban Chamber of Commerce - Annual Scholarship Awards
In a long standing partnership with the Urban Chamber of Commerce, the Sands Foundation provides ten scholarships for students for post secondary education. These scholarships are renewable for a maximum of four years as long as the students remain in good standing academically. Each year, the Urban Chamber of Commerce commemorates the awards of these scholarships along with others organizations in the community during one of their monthly luncheon to recognize the achievements of these students.

Urban League Guild Luncheon

Urban League Guild Luncheon
The Sands Foundation partnered with the Clark County – Las Vegas Urban League Guild in hosting their event to raise money for their organization. The mission of the urban league is to empower communities and ensure equal opportunity for low-income people. The agency is governed by multi-racial tripartite board composed of elected public officials, low-income persons, and the community at-large representing business, labor, non-profit and faith-based organizations. The Foundation is proud to support this worthy organization that helps those throughout the Southern Nevada community.
