Las Vegas Sands Builds Hygiene Kits to Help Homeless in Las Vegas

On October 7, hundreds of Las Vegas Sands Team Members along with community volunteers came together to assemble and package 35,000 hygiene kits with our Sands Cares partner Clean the World.  All of the kits created in Las Vegas will stay in the area to help support the homeless in Southern Nevada.

Clean the World will distribute the completed kits to eight local service organizations (listed below) in Las Vegas that all work to provide relief, support and resources for the homeless population in our community.  Together, these organizations provide a wide array of services to help homeless people rebuild their lives and achieve independence.

Additionally, some of the kits will go to Fresh Start Mobile Showers, a traveling hygiene unit that provides showers, hygiene supplies and other support to the homeless, introduced by Las Vegas Sands and Clean the World on July 27.

Supporting underprivileged populations is a key philanthropic priority for Las Vegas Sands around the world.  We aim to lend resources and rally community support to both deliver relief and be a catalyst for long-term change.  In Nevada alone, Las Vegas Sands has contributed $1.5 million in the past two years to aid the more than 30,000 homeless people estimated to be in Southern Nevada.

“In Southern Nevada we have a very large population of homeless people that turn to the Las Vegas Rescue Mission on a daily basis for items like bread, shower and a warm bed and a nourishing meal,” said Bob David, Donor Relations Manager for the Las Vegas Rescue Mission.  “Currently we bless our guests with a great Clean the World hygiene kit and it never stops to amaze me how THANKFUL each person is to receive the wonderfully prepared kit.  We sincerely thank Las Vegas Sands for making these kits possible for our guests!”
