In celebration of Earth Hour on March 24, Las Vegas Sands properties will do their part to celebrate the international day, which started in 2007 as a symbolic lights out event in Sydney, Australia, inspiring people around the world to take action for the planet and the environment. Through Sands ECO360, Las Vegas Sands sustainability program, the company remains committed to reducing the impact our properties have on the planet, engaging Team Members and establishing partnerships that advance sustainability practices in our communities.
Las Vegas: The properties will be turning off all non-essential exterior building lights from 8:30-9:30pm on March 24. The properties will also conduct a photo contest as part of their Team Member engagement where Team Members are encouraged to turn off lights at home and submit creative photos with their families. Prizes will be awarded to those with the most creative photos.
Macao: On March 24 from 8:30-9:30pm, Sands China Ltd. properties will turn off all non-essential exterior and interior lights for one hour. The properties will also continue the celebration with an energy road show for all Team Members until March 27, and on March 25, the properties will take part in “Join the Tree Planting Activities,” in conjunction with this year’s Earth Hour theme of “Let Nature Shine.” Apart from turning lights off for Earth Hour, the properties are suggesting Team Members and the community to adopt a sustainable lifestyle to protect bio-diversity across the planet.
Singapore: At Marina Bay Sands, Team Members will be taking part in “Walk in the Dark” on March 24 from 7:30-8:30pm, walking from the Event Plaza to the Floating Platform around the bay.
