Teach for America Teachers Reflect on Their First Year in the Classroom

In August 2016, Las Vegas Sands hosted a group of new teachers through Teach for America Las Vegas Valley for a meet-and-greet with local executives from Las Vegas Sands. As part of the Sands Education Council, a public-private partnership of like-minded organizations, Teach for America helps address the challenges faced by the local school district and to identify opportunities and help improve education to make the community a better place to live. Soap in Schools Program Launches in Las Vegas

Clean the World recently launched Soap in Schools in Las Vegas, a program in partnership with Sands Cares. The program is designed to teach handwashing education to students each month across a network of eight school locations throughout the greater Las Vegas area ranging, from daycares to elementary schools. Refugee Students Get Scholarships from Las Vegas Charity

Seven South Sudanese teenagers whose families live in a Kenyan refugee camp, will now receive a high school education because of scholarships awarded by the South Sudan Center of America (SSCA), a local Las Vegas charity, founded by Biar Atem, a Sands Cares Hero of the Year and Team Member at The Venetian and The Palazzo. We Give Back As A Team: Cards For Hope By The Marina Bay Sands Sales Team

Executive Director of Sales, Ailynn Seah, participated in a corporate social responsibility (CSR) recycling project two years ago in San Francisco. There, she learned about SCRAP, a non-profit creative reuse center that breathes new life into pre-loved or old objects and reduces waste by diverting over 200 tons of useful materials from landfills annually. These services are provided to the local community and the center also offers classes, workshops and volunteering opportunities.
