Las Vegas Sands Named to CDP Climate and Water A Lists, Sustainability Yearbook 2020

Las Vegas Sands continues to be recognized for its exemplary efforts at sustainable operations. The company has again been recognized by CDP, the international nonprofit environmental disclosure platform, on both the Climate Change and Water A Lists. This is the company’s fifth year in a row to attain a leadership position for Climate Change and its second on the Water A List.

“Being named to both the Climate and Water A Lists is a direct result of Sands’ dedication to being responsible environmental stewards of the regions in which we operate,” said Katarina Tesarova, senior vice president of global sustainability at Las Vegas Sands. “Our global sustainability strategy, driven by the Sands ECO360 program, is focused on leading the industry in environmentally responsible operations. Our placements on both the CDP Lists reinforces that we are being successful in our goals, and encourages us to maintain our commitment to responsible energy and water consumption.”

Additionally, the recently released RobescoSAM Sustainability Yearbook 2020 has awarded Sands with the Industry Mover medal. To earn this recognition, the company’s sustainability performance ranked within the top 15% of all casino and gaming companies globally. And from 2018 – 2019, Sands’ sustainability score improved to a greater degree than any other integrated resort company in the world.

Sands is dedicated to being a good corporate citizen, anchored by the core tenets of serving people, planet and communities. Sands ECO360, the company’s award-winning global sustainability program, aligns its strategy through internationally recognized frameworks to continue to accelerate its efforts on a global scale. The company has responded to the CDP environmental disclosure platform since 2012, staring first with reporting on climate change initiatives. Achievement of the Climate Change A List highlights the company’s work towards cutting emissions, mitigating climate risks, and building integrated resorts responsibly, while the achievement of the Water A List focuses on the company’s accomplishments in water efficiency and conservation.
