Sands China Ltd. Organizes Annual Spring Cleaning with Macao Elderly

The Sands China Care Ambassador program, under the Sands Cares umbrella, sent a group of more than 70 volunteers to Seac Pai Van public housing in Coloane this past January.  The volunteers spent time with local elderly who live alone for an annual spring cleaning activity.

This year marks the eighth in a row Ambassadors are assisting Macao’s elderly as they prepared for the Chinese New Year with an annual spring cleaning.  The volunteers paid a visit to 50 households, more than double from last year, taking cleaning supplies along with them so they could sweep, mop and vacuum the homes.  Volunteers also spent time chatting with the residents while helping them prepare for the upcoming Year of the Rooster.

As is Chinese tradition, the Ambassadors also brought Chinese New Year gift packs for the residents, which contained staples like oil, grains, noodles, and a hygiene kit recently put together by Sands China Team Members at the annual Las Vegas Sands Hygiene Kit Build.  Each hygiene kit includes soap, shampoo, conditioner, a toothbrush and toothpaste.

The elderly residents visited by the Care Ambassadors all use the Peng On Tung Tele-Assistance program, which is operated by The General Union for Neighbourhood Associations.  Since 2010, Sands China Ltd. has supported the program and contributed more than MOP 1.2 million to date, benefitting more than 1,800 elderly.
