Developing World-Class Hospitality Talent: Sands China Introduces Four Elite Training Programs

Over the course of this year, Sands China is introducing four elite talent development programs to provide elevated training in hotel operations, guest services, the culinary arts and transportation services. The new programs are designed to strengthen the company’s pipeline for world-class talent and support upward mobility for hospitality workers in Macao.

Over the course of this year, Sands China is introducing four hospitality talent elite training programs for current and prospective hospitality workers.

At a recent Talent Development Showcase, Sands China highlighted its new 2026 programs including the Hotel Talent Development Programme – Head Trainee, the Prestige Service Talent Development Programme, the Western Culinary Elite Programme and the Transportation Talent Development Programme, all of which have been launched.

These programs go beyond the basics with a focus on cultivating elite talent capable of delivering exceptional experiences for guests and continue Sands China’s commitment to investing resources that support the Macao SAR government’s Building Macao through Talent Training policy direction. The company aims to cultivate local talent with global perspectives and competitiveness to build Macao’s stature as a global tourism and leisure center.

In addition to these new programs, Sands China also is focused on expanding Team Member capabilities with programs such as applying AI skills and developing leadership, as well as collaborating across the industry and academic sector to better contribute to the rapid growth of Macao’s tourism sector.

“We deeply believe that talent is the cornerstone of driving both our corporate growth and Macao’s diversified development,” Dr. Wilfred Wong, executive vice chairman of Sands China, said. “For over two decades, we have invested resources in building a comprehensive talent cultivation ecosystem, as we believe that the key to nurturing talent lies not only in professional knowledge and technical skills, but also in fostering a mindset that actively seeks change and innovation.”

Sands China’s four new talent development programs are designed to cultivate exceptional performance in these areas:

Hotel Talent Development Programme – Head Trainee

This 15-month program prepares participants for mid-level management roles in integrated resort operations. Building on the foundational Hotel Supervisor Trainee Programme, this offering creates a path for high-potential talent to move into leadership responsibilities through on-the-job training, cross-departmental rotations in hotel operations and professional development curriculum.

Prestige Service Talent Development Programme

This program fast-tracks 13 participants into head butler and Paiza Club elite service manager roles. Through departmental rotations, participants build cross-functional knowledge, earn industry-recognized credentials and complete overseas exposure at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore to deepen their understanding of global luxury service standards.

Western Culinary Elite Programme

Co-hosted with the Macao University of Tourism (UTM), this program enables new culinary hires to train at the world-renowned École Ducasse culinary school in France, as well as gain broader resort operational exposure with targeted field visits to popular restaurant brands in the Greater Bay Area.

Transportation Talent Development Programme

This 27-month initiative provides hands-on operational training to cultivate integrated resort passenger service professionals through cross-departmental exposure and structured management competency training. Participants who successfully complete the program and meet performance standards may be promoted to transportation lead.

These programs build on established training initiatives offered by Sands China Academy. Established in 2015, the comprehensive talent development platform nurtures Team Members, local industry professionals and young people in a variety of hospitality practices. Since launching the academy, Sands China has introduced 30 elite development programs covering more than 20 departments to provide diverse career pathways for aspiring local workers to join the industry.

A sampling of the company’s hospitality training programs includes the following:

· Integrated Resort Leader Development Programme, which fast-tracks high-potential Team Members through tailored coaching and mentorship, leadership training, business visits and opportunities to present their ideas and expertise

· All-Round Food and Beverage Management Programme, which cultivates food and beverage managers through on-the-job training in Michelin-starred and Black Pearl-starred restaurants
