Developing World-Class Hospitality Talent: Marina Bay Sands Launches ASPIRE to Cultivate Future Leaders
Marina Bay Sands recently kicked off the first cohort for ASPIRE, the resort’s new training program aimed at developing world-class hospitality talent. ASPIRE nurtures a leadership mindset and represents an elevated layer of training that complements Marina Bay Sands’ suite of talent development initiatives.
The two-year, early-career development and pipeline-building initiative provides a structured learning pathway, cross-functional experience and regular engagement with resort leaders to give participants a clear understanding of career possibilities across the organization and view of multiple career pathways.
The approach encourages career mobility and long-term growth within Marina Bay Sands, enables hiring departments to strengthen leadership pipelines through early identification of potential talent, and provides internal mobility by reducing over-reliance on narrow career tracks or late-stage external hiring

Graduates choose an operational track in hotel operations, convention services, security, food and beverage operations, or culinary arts. Participants pursuing the hotel operations track may specialize in areas such as becoming a Paiza butler or working in housekeeping, hospitality transportation, front office operations, premium services, and concierge and guest services. Projects mirror managerial responsibilities in each area, enabling participants to confidently transition into junior leadership roles in the short-term.
“We are investing in a workforce that will carry us into our next era – one defined by agility, innovation and an enduring commitment to excellence,” Chan Yit Foon, senior vice president of human resources at Marina Bay Sands, said. “Through programs like ASPIRE, we aim to expand this spirit of mastery to passionate individuals, supporting Singapore’s vision of a skills-first society with reimagined pathways to develop hospitality leaders of tomorrow.”
ASPIRE’s introduction follows last year’s realignment of training initiatives to immerse Team Members in Marina Bay Sands’ Above Beyond values-driven service culture. The resort initially introduced the Brand Service Culture Transformative Series, which focuses on enhancing service delivery and strengthening overall Team Member development through immersive workshops, experiential learning and emphasis on emotional intelligence, distinctive service, and strategies for trust, accountability and collaboration.

In addition to these training initiatives, other hospitality education initiatives at Marina Bay Sands include:
Hospitality Scholarships
Established in 2022, the Sands Hospitality Scholarship Program nurtures the next generation of hospitality professionals through funding support for students in hospitality fields at Singaporean Institutes of Higher Learning. To date, Sands and Marina Bay Sands have committed $2.5 million to build a future-ready and inclusive workforce for Singapore through scholarships.
Support for Underserved Populations
Marina Bay Sands also extends hospitality training and early career exposure opportunities to disadvantaged young people through its partnership with Brighton Connection, a social service agency that supports youths from underprivileged backgrounds. In 2025, the partnership provided young adults aged 19-30 with instruction on practical interview techniques as well as opportunities for part-time and full-time employment. The program also offered youth casual employment opportunities at ArtScience Museum during the school holidays, enabling them to build confidence, resources, networks, work readiness and financial independence.
Marina Bay Sands’ hospitality training initiatives are designed to cultivate world-class talent and a future-ready, inclusive workforce. The resort’s breadth of Team Member, industry, university and partner programs represent Sands’ global commitment to helping local residents in its regions create pathways to greater earning power through long-term job tracks and meaningful careers. During its 2021-2025 environmental, social and governance reporting cycle, Sands invested more than $270 million in workforce development, surpassing its original goal of $200 million.
