Las Vegas Sands Global Hygiene Kit Build 2018

The fifth annual Las Vegas Sands Global Hygiene Kit Build brought together our properties and Team Members across the globe, creating another large community effort assembling 80,000 kits with Clean the World. Both Sands and Clean the World have long collaborated to promote its recycling and hygiene mission, recycling over 605,000 pounds of waste from Sands properties and recycling them into 2.6 million bars of soap. Together, Clean the World and Sands properties have created 600,000 hygiene kits since its partnership began in 2011.

The kits are filled with basic hygiene amenities including soap, conditioner, lotion or bath gel, a toothbrush, toothpaste, washcloth, and an inspirational notecard. All of the soaps are collected from Clean the World’s hospitality partners including Sands properties around the world, and then recycled through Clean the World’s soap sanitation and processing equipment.

Marina Bay Sands kicked off 2018’s global hygiene kit build with 1,000 Team Members working together to pack 20,000 kits. A portion of their kits were distributed to Singapore Red Cross to help with ongoing relief efforts for Laotian families affected by the floods, as well as benefitting The Food Bank Singapore. In Las Vegas, more than 500 Team Members and volunteers also assembled 35,000 kits, with 15,000 hygiene kits for Clean the World and 20,000 comfort kits for the American Red Cross of Southern Nevada, in addition to a blood drive. The hygiene kits supported several local homeless services providers including HELP of Southern Nevada, Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth, Las Vegas Rescue Mission, Nevada Homeless Alliance, US Vets, Communities in Schools, Veterans Village, and WestCare. The Red Cross Comfort Kits will aid victims of home fires or other disasters.

Sands Bethlehem assembled 10,000 kits to support more than 20 local community charities. Their build efforts benefit Donegan Elementary School, Second Harvest Food Bank, St. Lukes Mobile Van, Allentown YWCA Warming Shelter, Meals on Wheels of Greater LV, Project of Easton, and much more. With just 350 volunteers, Sands China Ltd. and its local community built 35,000 hygiene kit builds, completing the company’s goal of 80,000 hygiene kits in total. The Fuhong Society of Macau, The Women’s General Association of Macau, and The Salvation Army Macau assisted SCL Team Members and Sands Cares Ambassadors.

Our support of Clean the World is part of Sands Cares, our global corporate giving and Team Member engagement program. Sands remains committed to the local communities where it operates, the annual kit builds allows the company to expand its reach and positively influence the populations in most need. Through this continued partnership, the company hopes to support the larger mission of promoting good health and wellness and improving access to soap and other hygiene products.
