We are proud to announce that Las Vegas Sands has been named a finalist for the 2015 Citizens Awards by the US Chamber of Commerce Foundation. The awards consist of 23 finalists across eight categories, honoring businesses and chambers of commerce from around the world for positive social and community initiatives. Las Vegas Sands is among the three finalists for the Corporate Citizenship Award for Best Disaster Response & Community Resilience Program. Last September, we partnered with nonprofit Clean the World to host a two-day community kit build where over 2,500 volunteers, including 300 LVS Team Members, built 100,000 hygiene kits for disaster relief efforts. Every kit was made with recycled soap and shampoo from Las Vegas hotels. It was an event that allowed us to incorporate the three major pillars of our Sands Cares corporate citizenship program: our people, the community and the planet.
The two other finalists in the category are The UPS Foundation and The Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce. The winners will be announced at the US Chamber of Commerce gala on October 6 in Washington, D.C. To learn more about the Corporate Citizenship Awards, visit uschamberfoundation.org.
