Las Vegas Sands properties around the world participated in Earth Hour by turning off their lights from 8:30-9:30pm (local time) on Saturday, March 28th. Earth Hour, a movement organized by the WWF, aims to raise awareness on the importance of energy conservation and to symbolize participants’ commitment to the planet. This year, LVS participated in the event with over 170 countries and more than 1200 landmarks.
Through our global sustainability strategy, Sands ECO360°, LVS continues to lead the way in sustainable building development and resort operations. Part of that leadership includes showing our support of Earth Hour through distinctive ways.
Our properties in Macao not only turned off their exterior lights, but our team also created an Earth Hour sign at the building site of our new property, The Parisian, which is set to open its doors in 2016.
Our team in Las Vegas celebrated Earth Hour with a unique candlelight display at Doge’s Palace in front of The Venetian. The display was representative of our team’s commitment to minimizing the environmental impact of our company.
