Marina Bay Sands Hosts Series of Sustainability Events

In July, Marina Bay Sands hosted three large sustainability events at Sands Expo and Convention Centre.  Singapore International Water Week, organized by the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources and Singapore Public Utilities Board; Cleanenviro Summit Singapore, organized by the National Environment Agency (NEA); and World Cities Summit, organized by Singapore’s Centre for Livable Cities and Urban Redevelopment Authority Singapore.

At the Cleanenviro Summit, Marina Bay Sands was one of 11 signatories who have committed to the NEA’s initiative INCUBATE (Innovating and Curating Better Automation and Technologies for Environmental Services).  By joining INCUBATE, Marina Bay Sands is committing to leveraging technologies and innovations to help transform the way environmental services are offered in Singapore.  This initiative also embodies the partnership between technology providers and services providers, premise owners, and the government to collectively innovate and curate better technologies, solutions and innovations for the environmental services industry.

“Over the years, Marina Bay Sands has been working closely with the NEA to roll out numerous sustainability initiatives and programs,” said Ian Wilson, senior vice president of non-gaming operations and hotel operations at Marina Bay Sands.  “The INCUBATE partnership marks the start of our next journey with NEA and it aligns with our Integrated Resorts focus on environmentally-friendly and efficient operations.  We look forward to working with the agency to develop innovative sustainability solutions at Marina Bay Sands.”

Since the launch, seven existing INCUBATE partners have worked on several projects including Changi Airport Group autonomous scrubbers which improves cleaners productivity and efficiency, while also launching the scrubbers at City Square Mall and Downtown East.  In May this year, the NEA also launched a request for INCUBATE partners, which includes Marina Bay Sands, for smart and easy-to-clean toilets.  This request aims to transform toilet cleaning by using technology and automation to help reduce routine and laborious tasks, improving the work environment for the cleaners performing these day-to-day tasks, aligning with Las Vegas Sands’ commitment to reducing impact on the environment through its award-winning Sands ECO360 Global Sustainability Program.
