In July, Marina Bay Sands kicked off the Las Vegas Sands Global Hygiene Kit Build with Clean the World. 40 teams from the property helped pack 20,000 hygiene kits and was a part of a larger initiative by Las Vegas Sands to pack 100,000 hygiene kits across four properties – Singapore, Macao, Pennsylvania and Las Vegas – from July to December this year. The kits, which contain a bar of soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, a razor, a toothbrush, toothpaste, a washcloth, and inspirational notecards, will go to Children’s International for beneficiaries in the Philippines who lack access to basic hygiene supplies. Besides being a charitable cause, the challenge also allowed Marina Bay Sands Team Members to come together and bond.
“It’s very fun! It involves teamwork so we get to connect with our department,” said Winnie Ho from the Sales Department. “It wasn’t hard to get everyone onboard; we just came together naturally.”
The teams were divided into two sessions and competed to build the most hygiene kits in the shortest amount of time. A prize of S$500 Shoppes vouchers was awarded to the fastest team for each session. Despite the incentive, teams needed little motivation to participate.
“It’s not about the S$500 prize; it’s about the hygiene kits we’ll be sending to the Philippines,” said Juvy Garza, Retail Concierge.
The group of volunteers from the first session ended with the Finance team taking first place, completing their hygiene kits in 23 minutes. In the second session, the Food and Beverage team sped through the competition in 17 minutes.
