Las Vegas Sands and Sands China Ltd. have been ranked as one of the greenest large companies in the world by the 2016 Newsweek Green Rankings, one of the world’s most recognized assessments of corporate environmental performance. LVS holds the #39 spot on the U.S. 500 list and the #74 position on the Global 500 list, while SCL has been listed #62. This accomplishment makes LVS and SCL the highest ranked hospitality companies in the U.S., as well as in the world.
“We take a great deal of pride in our company’s commitment to minimizing the impact we have on the environment,” said Katarina Tesarova, vice president of global sustainability. “Earning this designation by Newsweek’s Green Rankings is extremely rewarding and is a testament to our company’s vision to lead the way in sustainable building development and resort operations.”
Through our Sands ECO360 sustainability program, LVS has set the standard for environmental conservation in the hospitality and gaming industries. The company remains focused on meeting the environmental objectives in the four fundamental areas; green buildings, environmentally responsible operations, green meetings, and stakeholder engagement. LVS properties in every region have received prestigious “green” certifications including LEED Gold for Building Operations and Maintenance at Sands Expo and the Congress Center at The Venetian and The Palazzo Las Vegas, and LEED Silver for New Construction at The Palazzo.
