In November, Sands Academy conducted a Road to Citizenship class for its Team Members. Team Members had asked for this type of course as part of a campus-wide survey asking what was most important to Team Members and what they wanted to learn in future courses.
“At the beginning of the year, we sent out a survey to really capture what our Team Members need and want out of Sands Academy,” Ian Thompson, Director of Talent and Organizational Development said. “We want to offer courses to help and educate. We want to make sure everyone gets something they can use to better themselves.”
A representative from the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) conducted the course, providing insight into what a person would need to do to become a citizen. Once a person becomes eligible for naturalization, they need to complete the necessary documentation and submit to the USCIS.
“We want to show that the company cares about its Team Members and we support them if they are thinking about becoming a citizen,” Thompson said. “We want to provide information and support in areas that we think can benefit the personal and professional development of our Team Members. It shows how committed and engaged we are with our team.”
