Sands China Ltd Human Resources Recognized as Top in Industry

Sands China Ltd. won two awards in the HRoot Awards 2018, in both departmental and individual categories, for its innovative talent development and management initiatives: Best HR Teams in Greater China 2018 and Best HR Leaders in Greater China 2018.

The HRoot Awards is the most highly-regarded human resources industry award ceremony in the Greater China region. The company’s effective and innovative human resource initiatives – including a novel in-house headhunting strategy – led to the company’s second-time selection as one of the Best HR Teams in Greater China, having also won in the category in 2016.

“Sands China is honored by this recognition from HRoot, the largest human resource media company in China,” said Wen Hongyan, senior vice president of human resources for Sands China Ltd. “We aim to be Macao’s employer of choice, and have long been committed to innovation in our approach to human resources, since we consider the recruitment, retention, and development of our team members as critical to our continued success as a company.”

Part of its success is due to the human resources team close following of the ever-changing market and analyzing a large amount of human resource data through the data centers, which helps define a strategic direction that meets the company’s development goals.

The company’s vision for human resources includes a significant investment in talent development. Various programs are available to nurture and develop Team Members including continuing education, vocational training, professional certification, and advanced training in Integrated Resort operations and service.

Patrick Wu, associate director of human resources, was named one of the “Best HR Leaders in Greater China” for 2018 by HRoot. Wu has worked for Sands China for more than 10 years and leads the human resources recruitment team in continuously scouting for quality talent. He has experience in international hotel groups and helped prepare for the opening of The Venetian® Macao and Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. Wu and his team’s collective efforts in promoting the company’s employer-brand image in Greater China is one of the reasons why Sands China was the only Macao-based company to have been awarded at the 2017 Employer Branding Creativity Award in Greater China.

Sands China is committed to developing a well-trained workforce, and offers a variety of horizontal and vertical mobility opportunities to its team members through internal promotions and integrated resort career development programs.
