Sands Academy: United in our Global Mission to Help Team Members Achieve Their Goals
Sands Academy, our global development and mentorship program, operates under a unified global charter to support the career development goals of our Team Members worldwide, improving our business through building a stronger, more knowledgeable workforce. While united in our global mission, we tailor specific programming at each of our properties to best meet local business needs.
At Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, we formed programming through a mix of internal development programs and partnerships with community and government entities. The end result of these diverse course offerings is a wide range of opportunities made available to the largest Team Member population possible.
Based on a set of industry-specific competencies as identified in concert with the Singapore government, the Workforce Skills Qualification (WSQ) program is a series of trainings through which participants can seek government accreditation. Certified as an official Training Partner by the local government, Sands Academy encourages Team Members in the food & beverage, hotel & accommodation services, gaming, supply chain and tourism departments to participate, free of charge, to both grow their own skillsets and gain valuable government accreditation upon completion.
Another available program is Leadership Empowerment, a two-day workshop presented in partnership with SeraphCorp Institute, a local workforce training company. The main goal of the Leadership Empowerment program is to strengthen the collective leadership mindset of all management-level Team Members. Launched in 2018, over 400 Team Members have participated since its inception.
Based on the success of the Leadership Empowerment program, the Leadership Insights program was launched in October 2020. While Leadership Empowerment targets management-level Team Members, this newer program recruits Team Members at the supervisory level to help them gain the necessary skills to take the next step in their career development.
Working within the frameworks of the Sands Academy Global Charter, we are dedicated to helping our Team Members improve their own skills, while growing the overall strength of our business.
