Developing World-Class Hospitality Talent: Sands China’s 2026 Interns Reflect on Their Experiences

Sands China offers a variety of internship opportunities in the many aspects of the integrated resort business and hospitality career tracks. A few of the company’s 2026 interns reflected on highlights and takeaways from their work and interactions with Team Members.

Sands China’s 2026 interns reflected on their key learnings, hands-on experiences and interactions with Team Members.

Sands’ regions in Singapore, Macao and Las Vegas offer formal intern programs to provide aspiring hospitality professionals as well as students in professional-service career tracks with hands-on experience working for the world’s largest integrated resort company.

In Macao, Sands China’s Integrated Resort Internship Programme is the umbrella for internships across the company’s portfolio of resorts and typically welcomes 200 students annually in two sessions during each half of the year.

Approximately 30 different departments host interns, and departments with the highest number of students are asset and facilities management, food and beverage, recreation, retail operations and hotel operations. Within professional services, interns have worked in procurement, information technology, e-commerce, human resources and cybersecurity, among other areas.

To facilitate intern recruitment, Sands China’s human resources team works closely with educational institutions in Macao and conducts career talks to introduce the company, its brand and culture, and available internship opportunities. Interns are selected based on their interests, academic background and capabilities.

In addition to providing practical onsite exposure, the program also supports the company’s talent pipeline. Interns who perform well may have the opportunity to transition into part-time roles with Sands China, which prepares them for potential full-time employment after graduation.

A few of Sands China’s 2026 interns reflected on their key learnings and experiences:

Anakin Ieong
University of Macau
Workforce Planning and Optimization Intern

“The experience has been amazing. What surprised me most was how welcoming and supportive everyone is. My team trusts me with real tasks, encourages me to ask questions and genuinely values my input. It’s definitely fast-paced and keeps me on my toes, but having that room to learn and take ownership has boosted my confidence a lot.

“One of the things that I’ve enjoyed the most is the people and mentorship. Everyone on the team is super knowledgeable and always willing to take time out of their busy schedules to explain things or share career advice.

“Another highlight is seeing the direct impact of our work. It’s super cool to analyze a dataset, see the numbers come together and then watch how those insights directly translate into helping day-to-day operations run smoother on the ground.

“Overall, I’ve had such a phenomenal and meaningful time interning here. This experience has really confirmed my passion for the integrated resort industry, and I can definitely see myself pursuing a career at Sands in the future.”

CLARISSA LAM
University of Macau
Corporate Communications and Community Affairs Intern

“Through this internship, I hope to gain a realistic understanding of how organizations operate behind the scenes and handle daily logistics. I aim to sharpen my practical problem-solving skills, adapt efficiently to professional work environments, and broaden my overall perspective on society.

“My experience has been very rewarding so far. Participating in social events and guiding guests through exhibitions helped me realize just how much planning and detail go into executing large-scale events. It has given me a new appreciation for the time, effort and thorough organization required behind the scenes.

“I have most enjoyed serving as a docent for our specialized exhibition, where I had the opportunity to interact with visitors from diverse backgrounds. It has been a valuable experience to see how complex cultural and historical themes can be presented in such a compelling and meaningful way.”

Che Ian Tong Hannah
University of Macau

Conventions and Exhibitions Intern

“So far, I feel really good about working in this team. Our Team Members are so nice and supportive; they are very willing to provide training for me to learn different skills. I have significantly improved my working abilities and gained exposure to many different types of events.

“I have gotten exposure to many large events and seen how all the different teams in our department work together to pull off a successful event, and learned that cross-department coordination is important.

“I have also trained at the business center of both The Venetian and The Londoner, and I noticed that each property hosts events with different styles, so the details we need to pay attention to are also different. It is an interesting learning experience that has opened up my horizons and improved my way of thinking.”

Hospitality Education at Sands China

The Integrated Resort Internship Programme is part of Sands China’s suite of hospitality training programs, which the company expanded this year by introducing four new elite talent development programs in hotel operations, guest services, the culinary arts and transportation services.

These programs build on initiatives offered by Sands China Academy, the company’s comprehensive talent development platform to nurture Team Members, local industry professionals and young people in a variety of hospitality practices. Since launching the academy in 2015, Sands China has introduced 30 elite development programs covering more than 20 departments to provide diverse career pathways for aspiring local workers to join the industry.
