We help people create pathways to greater earning power through long-term job tracks and meaningful careers. Our focus is on developing our Team Members, investing in hospitality industry education, and working to ensure our communities offer job skills and business development training.

Our Commitment to Workforce Development

We back our commitment to workforce development with targeted investments. From 2021-2025, we set a goal of $200 million in workforce development spending. At the close of this period, we had invested more than $270 million, encompassing 116 new Team Member development programs and 235 partnerships with universities. In 2025 alone, our workforce development investments totaled nearly $53 million.

Team Member Advancement

The Sands Academy global training and development program anchors our Team Member advancement initiatives through a broad suite of programs. A sampling includes:

  • Sands China’s Integrated Resort Leader Development Programme builds a pipeline of capable, forward-looking leaders for the integrated resort industry with curriculum designed to fast-track high-potential Team Members through tailored coaching and mentorship, leadership training, business visits, and opportunities to present their ideas and expertise.
  • Sands China’s All-Round Food & Beverage Management Programme cultivates local food and beverage management talent in support of Macao’s development as a Creative City of Gastronomy through on-the-job training in Michelin-starred and Black Pearl-starred restaurants.

Marina Bay Sands launches ASPIRE to develop world-class hospitality talent.
  • Sands China’s Western Culinary Elite Programme enables new culinary hires to train at the world-renowned École Ducasse culinary school in France.
  • Sands China’s Hotel Talent Development Programme for Hotel Supervisor Trainees prepares participants for front office or concierge supervisor roles within 18 months and is one of the company’s longest-running fast-track development initiatives.
  • Marina Bay Sands’ ASPIRE Programme is a structured early-career development and pipeline-building initiative that provides cross-functional experience and regular engagement with resort leaders to give participants a clearer understanding of the organization and a view of differing career tracks, encouraging career mobility and long-term growth within the organization.
  • Marina Bay Sands’ Brand Service Culture Transformative Series reinforces the resort’s “Above Beyond” brand vision for excellence through immersive workshops and experiential learning, emphasizing emotional intelligence, distinctive service, and strategies for trust, accountability and collaboration.
  • The Elevate program at corporate headquarters supports the development of new managers as they begin their leadership journeys.

Hospitality Education

Around the world, we partner with top hospitality institutions and have established a number of our own hospitality education initiatives to support the future talent of our industry. A sampling includes:

  • The Sands Hospitality Scholarship Program in Singapore nurtures the next generation of hospitality professionals through scholarships to students in hospitality fields at Singaporean Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs). To date, we and Marina Bay Sands have committed $2.5 million to build a future‑ready and inclusive workforce for Singapore through scholarships.
  • Sands China’s Sands Hospitality Academy builds skills in the Macao hospitality industry with the dual purpose of advancing Team Members and cultivating talent among youth looking to join the industry. The academy sets the highest international standards for the region and extends Sands China’s vast hospitality experience to the Greater Bay Area through property tours, career-sharing sessions, master classes, and lectures by company senior executives and industry experts.

  • Sands China’s MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions) Academy incubates much-needed talent for large-scale meetings and conferences in Macao through internships, educational exchanges and training courses with Sands China’s senior management team serving as guest lecturers. The academy also offers tours of Sands China’s properties for high school and university students and faculty members.
  • The Sands Center for Professional Development at the UNLV Harrah College of Hospitality helps hospitality professionals keep pace with rapid change by providing industry-relevant, non-degree-based courses and programs. The center offers custom in-classroom programs and tours, live interactive webinars, industry workshops, featured speakers and online courses.
  • Our global internship programs provide hospitality and professional services on-the-job training and career exposure to thousands of higher education and vocational training students annually.

Macao Internships

Sands China’s Integrated Resort Internship Programme typically has two intakes per year and welcomes around 200 interns for two-five months in approximately 30 departments. Other student-related early workplace and career development initiatives include the Career Experience Opportunity Programme, which provides university students with part-time roles and structured professional training, and the Summer Trainee Programme for university students. The company also supports the Macao Education and Youth Development Bureau’s career exploration initiatives by providing workplace experiences for secondary school students.

Singapore Internships

Marina Bay Sands’ internship program is a structured talent pipeline initiative that offers approximately 270 placements each year in food and beverage, hotel operations, property operations, marketing, mall management, entertainment, cybersecurity and other departments. The resort also hosts intern engagement initiatives such as Begin Bold, a showcase that celebrates interns’ experiences, highlights their achievements and recognizes mentor contributions.

Corporate Internships

At corporate, we offer professional services internships that enable university students to grow in their fields while providing exposure to the dynamic world of global integrated resort management. Typically, interns work in cybersecurity, aviation, human resources, treasury, tax, procurement, compliance and information technology departments, among others.

Local Workforce Empowerment

Promoting economic prosperity through meaningful employment and local business development in our regions also centers on efforts to ensure our regions provide skills development, employment training and entrepreneurial resources for small and medium business owners. A sampling of our initiatives include:

  • Local Business Advancement Programs: Sands China’s Local, Small, Medium and Micro Suppliers Support Programme is a pioneering initiative that has helped spearhead industry efforts toward supporting Macao’s small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and a buy-local mindset. The program encompasses training programs, growth opportunities and business development resources.
  • Sands Procurement Academy: The academy provides training programs to equip suppliers, especially SMEs, with skillsets to work with large global companies like ours.
  • Brighton Connection Partnership: Marina Bay Sands works with this social service agency to provide early career exposure opportunities to youths from underprivileged backgrounds. The partnership has supported young adults aged 19 to 30 transitioning into the workforce with practical interview techniques and offered part-time and full-time employment opportunities, as well as holiday employment opportunities at ArtScience Museum.
